Looking For Alibrandi
“For as long as Josephine Alibrandi can remember, it’s just been her, her mom, and her grandmother. Now it’s her final year at a wealthy Catholic high school. The nuns couldn’t be any stricter—but that doesn’t seem to stop all kinds of men from coming into her life.
Caught between the old-world values of her Italian grandmother, the no nonsense wisdom of her mom, and the boys who continue to mystify her, Josephine is on the ride of her life. This will be the year she falls in love, the year she discovers the secrets of her family’s past—and the year she sets herself free.
Josephine is on the debate team, and is the Vice Captain of her school. A girl she isn’t too friendly with, Ivy, is School Captain. For as long as they can remember, they never liked each other. None of the teachers seem to like her either. Josephine Alibrandi has liked the same guy for a while, but he seems to show no interest in being more than more than friends. Meanwhile, another guy has interest, but isn’t interested in meeting Josephine’s family on the first date. Their relationship has many ups and downs.
This is a brilliant, moving story that cannot be forgotten. The characters seem so real; that you can forget it is just a story. The characters are full of emotion, and the story seems like it could be real.
When I first read it, I didn’t want to put it down. The words just pull you in. Looking For Alibrandi is a great story and you won’t regret buying it.
